Chloroplasts are a type of plastid found in many organisms. They are most known for being semi-autonomous plastids which perform photosynthesis in plants and photosynthetic bacteria.
Chloroplasts store grana stacks in sacs made from thylakoid membrane with stroma. They are four to six micrometer in diameter total. They emit a green color due to the pigment of chlorophyll.
