Gymnosperms

Gymnosperms are a clade of seed plants. Gymnosperms produce seeds for sexual reproduction; however, compared to their sister clade, angiosperms, gymnosperms’ seeds are not enclosed in a protective structure, such as a fruit.

Gymnosperms include conifer plants such as redwoods, sequoias, and pine trees. All gymnosperms are woody plants; there are no herbaceous gymnosperms.
